Singapore, India agree to Expand Flights

Singapore and India have agreed to expand the number of flights between the two countries.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed in New Delhi on Wednesday after two days of negotiations, paving the way for flights between the Indian cities of Chennai, Bangalore and Delhi and Singapore.

The agreement also opens up a possibility of a route from Singapore to Coimbatore.

The Singapore delegation was led by Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, Choi Shing Kwok.

He said the demand for air travel between the two countries had grown due to increased links in trade, investments, tourism and other economic ties.

India's delegation was led by the Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ajay Prasad.

There are currently 142 weekly passenger services between Singapore and India.
